Artificial Intelligence is reshaping the world, but for Sierra Leone, the goal is to use AI for impact. That is why the Ministry of Communication, Technology & Innovation, in partnership with the World Bank through the Sierra Leone Digital Transformation Project, is leading an AI Readiness Assessment, one of the first of its kind globally.
The Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation welcomed the World Bank team to Freetown for a presentation of initial findings and stakeholder engagements across key sectors, government, academia, civil society, and the private sector.
The assessment is evaluating Sierra Leone’s preparedness across three essential pillars, Compute (infrastructure), Capacity (skills and talent), and Context (policy and regulation), while mapping the opportunities that will shape our forthcoming National Artificial Intelligence Strategy.
“We are not asking how to fit AI into our systems; we are asking which national challenges AI can help us solve today.”-Minister Salima Monorma Bah
This study is a key step in adopting AI that is inclusive, ethical, and tailored to Sierra Leone, making the country a regional leader in responsible AI.
