Directorate of Communication
Overview
The Directorate of Communication comprises the Network and Infrastructure, the Communications, and the Cybersecurity and Data Protection units. Its primary focus is on managing and optimizing communication infrastructure. Strategically, the Directorate ensures that the ICT infrastructure is accessible, robust, reliable, affordable and secure to meet the needs of the country and its people.
Key Functions

- Collaborate with the Infrastructure and Communications Companies to ensure effective and efficient Internet and data communication Services across government (MDAs).
- Design, implement and support networks and communication systems (LAN, WAN, MAN, wireless, fibre optic) required for digital services to be deployed across government.
- Ensure adequate infrastructure required for hosting government services (Datacenter Services).
- Ensure adequate security by safeguarding digital assets and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive information in Ministries Department and Agencies (MDAs).
- Provide efficient support mechanisms to minimise downtime and optimise service provision.
- Ensure MDAs are fortified against the ever-evolving landscape of cyber threats and raise awareness and public education on cybersecurity and data protection.
- Support MDA Infrastructure in terms of design and policies for smooth integration with national infrastructures.
- Support national infrastructure and communication system projects ensuring maximum benefit of the Government.
